Branch Meeting

August summer picnic
Membership picnic supper, Thurs. Aug. 23, 6 p.m. at picnic deck on Bungalow Bay Blvd., Chippewa Lake. Bring dish to share (appetizer, salad or dessert). Reservations by Aug. 15 to Paula Maggio, akronpm@sbcglobal.net . Wear comfortable clothing and suffragist colors (yellow or gold, purple and white) as we will celebrate Women’s Equality Day and the passage of the 19th Amendment.
Directions: from Lake Rd., turn west on Longacre Lane; take second left (just past sign for The Oaks Restaurant) on to Bungalow Bay. Continue on Bungalow Bay — it will become one-way–until you get to the community area. Park by the tennis courts or playground. Carpooling is recommended as parking space may be limited. Note: Lake Rd. north of Rte. 162 is under construction.
Guests and prospective members are welcome!
If the weather does not cooperate, members will be notified and we will relocate to the home of Jill Heck.
Agent of Change
Agent of Change Award
Every two years since 2002, Medina County Branch of the American Association of University Women has recognized outstanding women who have made significant contributions to our community and been “ agents for positive change” on behalf of women and/or children.
Criteria:
The recipient of this award will be a woman who is or has been a resident of Medina County and who has:
- Consistently and effectively used resources, talents and influence to help women and/or children to achieve their potential
- Accomplished positive change for women and/or children locally, statewide or beyond, or
- Been a community volunteer or a professional whose achievements went beyond the requirements of the position.
Candidates could include a long-time volunteer who has initiated programming to impact women/children, a member of a service organization or business, or an individual who has served on a state or national board and worked to accomplish change.
Nominations:
To submit the name of a candidate for the award, the nominator should describe in 200 words or less how the person fulfills the above Agent of Change criteria. Names and contact information for at least two personal references for the candidate are also required.

A&E to visit Rembrandt Exhibit at Cleveland Museum of Art
Members and guests are invited to join Arts & Excursions at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Wed., May 16 to see the “Rembrandt in America”exhibition. We will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the south side of the parking lot at Buehler’s River Styx to carpool.
Admission to the museum is free; the exhibition is free for members and $14 for non-members –$12 for seniors. If we assemble a group of 10, the non-member fee will be reduced to $10.
The group will lunch at the museum café following the tour.

The exhibition focuses on the history of Rembrandt collecting in America, exploring his work across various genres, his artistic evolution, and his influence on other artists of the day.
