50th Anniversary Luncheon and Program:
To the greater Medina Community: Thank you for your support in 2014 –our “Golden Year” — and in the past. We had a fabulous time remembering and celebrating our accomplishments and recognizing our heritage throughout the year with special activities and programming! It’s been 50 years in the making: the Medina County Branch AAUW!
The gala luncheon and program was held Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Blair Center, Westfield Center.
Special keynote speaker: Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton, Professor Emeritus, Cleveland Community College
Known as an innovator and focused leader, Thornton has been recognized as “one of the 50 most influential people in Northeast Ohio.” Serving as Tri-C president from 1992 through her retirement in 2013, she guided the institution—the oldest and largest community college in Ohio—to becoming a leader in educational innovation, workforce training and economic development.
We shared highlights from our history in a specially prepared power point, recognized our founding members, and heard an inspiring address by an outstanding woman educator. We were pleased to be able to introduce three of our founding members who attended: Pat Boyle, Linda Kolb Schultz and Nancy Sprowls. Scrapbooks and other memorabilia were on display for “show and tell” during the afternoon.
